OUR BACKGROUND AND WHY COMMONER CONCERNS CENTRE

COMMONER CONCERNS CENTRE is a Not-For Profit Organisation that has been officially in operation since JANUARY, 2019. It was founded in the year 2018 and subsequently got registered as a Community-Based Organisation (CBO) on 30th January, 2019 under the name COMMONER CONCERNS in Homa Bay County, within the Republic of Kenya, where it carried out most of its activities. It mainly focused on two objectives; ensuring that the right of citizens to enjoy the highest attainable standard of Healthcare Services and the right to enjoy quality attainable Education is adhered to by those in authority as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

It achieved these objectives through working closely with those in charge of children’s homes, schools, hospitals, and state, and non-state actors. These included: doctors, nurses, teachers, chiefs, assistant chiefs, the police, religious leaders, parents, and children, among others.

On 7th February, 2022, it was registered as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) under the name COMMONER CONCERNS CENTRE, thereby being allowed to carry out its activities all over the Republic of Kenya. Our core mandate as an organisation is to Offer Legal Aid, especially to the Indigent members of the society so that they may claim their Basic Rights as enshrined in both the National and International Laws.
